SPECIAL NEEDS TRUSTS AND DEVELOPING A CARE PLAN
MELINDA JONES AND CHRIS KLEMME
Sponsored by Dallas Women’s Foundation
Blending a client (or family’s) desire to control the provision of care, with private, public and community resources (and the expertise each bring) is the constant challenge of trust administrators and care coordinators in managing special needs and discretionary health, education and support trusts. This presentation will explore examples of the choices clients must make to obtain and maintain their healthcare from attorney, trustee, and care management perspective, as well as the challenges those choices present. Mindy Jones is the Managing Principal at Pyxis Care Management, a healthcare advocacy firm which offers field-based RN consultants who provide expertise and management of various challenges related to health and well-being. Mindy has an MBA from University of Texas at Dallas-School of Management, an MS in Horticulture from Purdue University and a BS in Biology from Indiana University Bloomington. Chris Klemme is Senior Vice President/Senior Trust Officer for Happy State Bank and Trust Company and serves as the market manager for the Dallas-Fort Worth trust group. He is responsible for generating new trust and investment business and for management of trust accounts and supervising their administration. Chris received his JD from Baylor University School of Law, his Master of Arts in History from University of North Texas and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Austin College.
