UNUSUAL VALUATIONS

LANCE HALL

Sponsored by Armanino, LLP and Catholic Foundation

When we talk about valuation for estate and gift tax purposes, we normally think about the valuation of ongoing businesses and asset-holding partnerships.  However, valuations for estate and gift tax purposes can also cover considerably stranger assets that typically do not come to mind or unusual methods to arrive at an acceptable valuation.  Also, peculiar circumstances can also come into play in the valuation of an asset. This presentation will take an interesting and educational look at a few of the more unusual valuation oddities and conundrums. Lance Hall is a Senior Advisor to Stout Advisory.  On February of 2017, Mr. Hall sold his former firm, FMV Opinions, Inc. to Stout Advisory.  At the time, FMV Opinions, Inc. was the nation’s largest estate and gift tax focused valuation firm.  In addition to his considerable experience in the valuation of ongoing businesses and asset holding entities for estate and gift tax purposes, Mr. Hall also has extensive experience with securities design and issues of solvency, fairness and employee stock ownership plans. In 2016, Mr. Hall’s peers at the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) honored Mr. Hall by selecting him as a “Titan of the Industry.” Mr. Hall is also a frequent speaker and guest lecturer on valuation topics for various professional organizations for continuing education purposes. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from University of North Texas and Master of Business Administration (Finance) from Brigham Young University.

There is continuing ed credit pending for this presentation. The program handouts are paperless.  The handout will be available to download on the website (Document Library) a few days prior to each meeting.  YOU may print the handout if you prefer to have a handout at the meeting.
