ESTATE PLANNING IN A POST ELECTION WORLD
MAYA BRILL
Sponsored by HighGround Advisors
For the last few years, estate planning attorneys have been urging their clients to utilize their lifetime exemptions prior to the sunset of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) on December 31, 2025. It was a call to action where time was of the essence – “if you don’t use it, you lose it.” With Trump winning the presidency and Republicans taking the majority in the House of Representatives and Senate, has the crisis been averted? What does the planning conversation with our clients consist of today? This presentation will explore how the current political environment has impacted estate planning and discuss different approaches to continue those conversations with clients now hesitant to continue or conclude their planning.
Maya Brill is a member of the Wealth Strategist Group serving the closely held business owners and high/ultra-high net worth individuals within Regions’ Private Wealth Management. Maya’s focus is developing strategic business succession planning as well as advanced estate planning. She approaches her clients’ needs with a view towards wealth preservation and protection, but with an acute awareness that everyone has unique family dynamics that require balancing tax efficiencies with personal family needs. Maya holds a post doctorate LL.M. degree in tax law from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, received her J.D. from the University of California College of the Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings); and received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California San Diego.
There is continuing ed credit pending for this presentation. The presentation will be posted on the website document library a few days prior to the presentation.
